Dr. Rana Zadeh

Biography

Rana Sagha Zadeh, Associate Professor in the Department of Human-Centered Design at Cornell University, holds a Ph.D. in Architecture, Health Systems & Design. She is a founding member of the Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design and has served with the Center for Health Design's Research Coalition. Her research focuses on applying human-centered design principles to enhance healthcare environments and improve patient experiences. Zadeh's Health Design Innovations Lab emphasizes collaborative efforts across disciplines, integrating design thinking and user-centered approaches to develop innovative solutions for healthcare challenges. Her team is recognized for pioneering the concept of 'palliative design,' which enhances the quality of life for individuals suffering from chronic illnesses. She leads various projects aimed at improving adherence to medication among older adults with dementia and developing evidence-based approaches for managing sleep and circadian rhythm disorders in patients with chronic conditions. Zadeh's contributions to the field have garnered awards, including the New Investigator Award from the Center for Health Design and the Innovation Incubator Award from the Clinical Translational Science Center at Weill Cornell Medical College.
