Biography

Professor Randall Germain obtained his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Victoria in 1984 and completed his MA and PhD in Political Science at York University in 1994. Before joining Carleton University in 2003, he taught at McMaster University, University of Sheffield, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and Aberystwyth University. His research interests and teaching focus on theoretical debates in International Political Economy (IPE), global economic governance, and global finance. He has held important roles such as convenor of the International Political Economy Group of the British International Studies Association from 1998 to 2001 and served on the editorial board of the Routledge/RIPE Series in Global Political Economy from 2000 to 2007. Between 2009 and 2012, he was the Chair of the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. Germain is currently completing a manuscript on the historical problems of IPE and has published several notable works, including articles in prestigious journals and a book edited by Susan Strange on the future of Global Political Economy.
