Biography

Randall W. Harrell is a poet-teacher based in Atlanta, Georgia, originally from a small town in Southwest Georgia. His work explores the intersections of body, memory, trauma, and transformation. He earned a PhD in English with a research focus on American literature and Indigenous studies. His creative and scholarly work often moves in parallel, confronting inherited structures of grief, survival, and belonging. He teaches American literature and multimodal composition, striving to highlight the voices of victims of cultural and historical erasure. His current research largely deals with 19th-Century American literature, trauma, temporality, and the pre-Removal print history of the Cherokee Phoenix, the official newspaper of the Cherokee Nation. He resides in Atlanta, GA with his wife and kids, and enjoys music, the outdoors, and education in a broad sense.
