Dr. Rani Hoff

Biography

Rani Hoff received her MPH in Chronic Disease Epidemiology and PhD in Mental Health Services Research and Psychiatric Epidemiology from Yale University. She serves as the Director of the Northeast Program Evaluation Center (NEPEC) at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, focusing on national program evaluation for mental health services. Under her leadership, NEPEC oversees various initiatives aimed at improving mental health services for Veterans, particularly those with serious mental illness and PTSD. Dr. Hoff's work emphasizes data collection and performance monitoring to enhance care quality and outcomes. She actively contributes to the VA's efforts to address mental health needs of female veterans and co-chairs committees focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her research interests include psychiatric epidemiology, substance abuse, and the impact of environmental factors on mental health outcomes. Notably, she is the Principal Investigator for studies examining gender differences in coping behaviors among veterans returning from military service, as well as other significant research initiatives. Dr. Hoff has published extensively on topics related to risk factors for psychiatric disorders and has worked on identifying disparities in mental health service access and utilization.
