Dr. Ranjan Sudan

Biography

Ranjan Sudan is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Surgery at Duke University. He has trained at Armed Forces Medical College in India, receiving his M.D. in 1979. With a significant focus on surgical education and training, Dr. Sudan has led various projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of surgical techniques and the integration of robotics in surgery. His research interests include the usability of the OTTAVA Robotic System and the Senhance Surgical Robotics System, where he evaluates their feasibility and effectiveness. He has also garnered multiple grants for projects such as developing and implementing surgical training fundamentals in endoscopic and robotic surgery across different healthcare systems. Dr. Sudan has held previous roles as an Associate Professor and has been involved in educational leadership within the Department of Surgery. His work aims to advance surgical education and improve patient outcomes through innovative teaching and technology integration.
