Professor Dr. Rao Govindaraju

Biography

Rao S. Govindaraju is the Bowen Engineering Head and the Susan S. Burke Distinguished Professor in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Purdue University. He has extensive experience in hydraulic and hydrologic engineering, focusing on watershed hydrology, stochastic statistical hydrology, and machine learning applications for hydrology. His academic background includes a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis in 1989, a Master's from the University of Kentucky in 1986, and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1984. Govindaraju has directed several research projects funded by the EPA, USDA, and NSF, contributing significantly to hydrology and agricultural applications. He teaches multiple courses related to hydraulics and hydrology at Purdue University.
