Biography

Raphaël Giraud is an associate physician in Intensive Care at Hôpital Universitaire de Genève (HUG) and a Privat-Docent and Instructor at the University of Geneva. He holds FMH qualifications in both anesthesiology and intensive medicine. Since 2012, he has been responsible for the ECMO program at HUG, significantly contributing to the development of the program for organ donation following cardiac arrest with normothermic regional perfusion, which he pioneered in 2017. In 2023, he became the President of the PLDO. His research focuses primarily on ECMO and short-term cardiopulmonary assistance, alongside the optimization of organ donation post-circulatory arrest, particularly investigating normothermic regional perfusion processes like A-NRP and TA-NRP.
