Biography

Raphaël Robiette is a F.R.S.-FNRS Research Fellow and Professor at Université catholique de Louvain, specializing in Organic Chemistry and Physical Organic Chemistry. He completed his Ph.D. in 2003 at UCLouvain under the supervision of Professors J. Marchand-Brynaert and D. Peeters. His doctoral research focused on the development of general stereoselective methodology for the synthesis of aminophosphonic derivatives, which are significant in medicinal chemistry, involving both experimental and computational methodologies. He pursued his postdoctoral studies with Professor M.E. Jung, exploring the total synthesis of N-methylwetwitindolinone C isothiocyanate and later worked at the University of Bristol with Professors Varinder K. Aggarwal and Jeremy N. Harvey, investigating reactivity and selectivity of reactions involving onium ylides. Since October 2005, he has served as a Research Fellow at UCLouvain and became a full Professor in October 2009. Additionally, he was the Head of Molecular Chemistry, Materials and Catalysis Division from 2017 to 2023.
