Dr. Rashid Bashir is an Associate Professor in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, located in Toronto. As a task leader, he contributed to initial screening reports for sites related to Canada’s Deep Geological Repository for Used Nuclear Fuel. Prior to joining Golder, Dr. Bashir worked as a Corporate Hydrogeologist for Cameco Corporation, providing hydrogeology support for operations in Northern Saskatchewan and engaging in dewatering and depressurization efforts for Cameco's operating mines. He testified as a subject matter expert before the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and has considerable project management experience, managing large, complex mining projects. Dr. Bashir is also qualified as a Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality auditor, and as a TapRooT® investigator.
