Biography

Rasoul Khayyam Nekouei is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), involved with the SMaRT Centre focusing on Sustainable Materials Research & Technology. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Materials Science Engineering and further improved his skills by obtaining an MBA in 2013. In 2016, he joined the SMaRT Centre, where he conducted his PhD research on 'Zero-Waste Approaches for the Valorisation of Electronic Waste Materials', graduating in 2020. His research has emphasized developing sustainable nanoscale materials from e-waste, contributing to greener environmental solutions. In addition to his PhD work, Rasoul has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as MIT in the United States and the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom as a visiting researcher. He currently focuses on the valorisation of waste materials and the development of advanced functional materials for applications in energy storage, such as batteries and supercapacitors.
