Biography

Raul Castro Fernandez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago, where he also serves as Faculty Co-Director of Data Ecology. His research focuses on building systems that discover, prepare, and process data, with the goal of understanding and exploiting the value of data. He employs various techniques from data management, statistics, and machine learning to advance this research. Currently, he is involved in building platforms that support data markets as part of a larger effort to understand Economics Data. Raul is also a co-leader of the Data Systems Research Group at the University of Chicago, known as ChiData.
