Biography

Dr. Raul Guzman is the Donald Guthrie Professor of Vascular Surgery at Yale School of Medicine and serves as the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs in the Department of Surgery. He has been the Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at Yale New Haven Hospital since 2019 and is the Surgeon-in-Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Heart and Vascular Center at Yale New Haven Health System. Dr. Guzman earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University, and after completing his general surgery residency, he undertook research training with the Cardiology Branch at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. He completed his vascular surgery fellowship at Stanford University. Dr. Guzman's clinical interests focus on patients with diabetic vascular disease and peripheral artery disease, with particular emphasis on the role of arterial calcification in lower extremity ischemia. He is also an NIH study section member and has received multiple honors and awards for his contributions to the field of surgery.
