Biography

Ravi Bakaraju is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of New South Wales. He is the founder of nthalmic and has been its Chairman and Managing Director since its inception. He has spent five years leading the development and innovation of novel ophthalmic technologies such as S.T.O.P®, P.A.U.S.E®, and A.R.R.E.S.T® for myopia management and MEIBOLEYES® for managing dry eyes. His team has expanded innovative ideas into significant product portfolios while establishing an ISO13485 framework to support the organization’s growth. Previously, Bakaraju held executive roles at the Brien Holden Vision Institute, where he oversaw research and development projects focused on vision correction innovations. He is the lead inventor on over 90 granted and pending patents related to myopia control and presbyopia correction. Bakaraju has co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts in visual optics, and has received numerous awards, including the American Optometric Foundation’s William Ezell Fellowship in 2009 and the prestigious Irvin M. Beatrice Borish Outstanding Young Scientist Award in 2015.
