Dr. Ravi Prasher

Biography

Ravi Prasher is an adjunct professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and serves as the Associate Lab Director for the Energy Technologies Area at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He joined Berkeley Lab in June 2015, after serving as vice president of product development at Sheetak Inc., a startup focused on solid state thermoelectric energy converters. Previously, he was a program director at the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), where he led initiatives such as Building Energy Efficiency Innovative Thermodevices and High Energy Advanced Thermal Storage. Prasher has a robust background in thermal management, having worked at Intel as a technology development manager. He is also an adjunct professor in the school of engineering at Arizona State University from 2005 to 2013, with research supported by organizations like the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research. He has published over 120 archival journal papers in top scientific journals and holds more than 35 patents in fields including thermoelectrics and nanostructured materials. Prasher has contributed to the academic community by serving on various Ph.D. committees and editorial boards, and he is an active speaker worldwide.
