Biography

Ravindra N. Bhatt is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Computer Engineering at Princeton University. His research specialty is in theoretical condensed matter physics, with a focus on topological materials and the quantum Hall regime in two-dimensional electronic systems, such as semiconductor heterostructures and graphene, particularly under strong perpendicular magnetic fields. In recent years, his group has investigated highly disordered electronic and magnetic systems, exploring phenomena like single-particle and many-body localization. His work encompasses both analytic and computational methods, including concepts of scaling, Density Matrix Renormalization Group, Strong Disorder Renormalization Group, Monte Carlo Methods, and Transfer Matrix Methods for Sparse Matrix Diagonalization. Professor Bhatt served as the Director of the Princeton Center for Complex Materials from 1999 to 2005 and was a Faculty Fellow and Acting Associate Director of the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science from 2005 to 2012. Before joining Princeton, he was the Head of Theoretical Physics Research at Bell Laboratories.
