Biography

Ray Bobrownicki is a Lecturer in Sport Psychology and Co-Programme Director for the BSc (Hons) Applied Sport Science at the University of Edinburgh. He is a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, as well as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Ray has previously worked as Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching at the University of the West of Scotland from 2016 to 2021. He is actively involved in a variety of roles within real-world sport, including competing as a Commonwealth Games finalist in high jumping and coaching athletes to significant achievements. His research focuses on the intersection of sport psychology, coaching instruction, and motor learning, investigating how different coaching methods affect performance and psychological factors such as confidence and motivation in competitive environments. Ray is committed to advancing the understanding of how these disciplines impact athlete identity and welfare. He holds a PhD in Sport Psychology Coaching from the University of Edinburgh and multiple degrees in psychology and performance psychology.
