Biography

Ray Boyapati is a gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He performs procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and intestinal ultrasound. Ray completed his medical degree at Monash University and furthered his specialty training at Monash Health and Austin Hospital. In pursuit of excellence, he undertook additional clinical training in IBD at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, where he also completed his Doctor of Medicine postgraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh. As an adjunct senior lecturer, he coordinates the final year 5D MBBS program at Dandenong Hospital and serves as a Clinical Bedside Tutor for third-year MBBS students. Additionally, he holds the position of Co-Chair on the Theme IV Committee and contributes to the training and mentorship of FRACP candidates. As a consultant gastroenterologist at Monash Health, he actively engages in clinical activities. Ray is involved in community service through various roles in the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), including serving on the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee and as Co-Chair of Young GESA. His research interests include the investigation of mitochondrial damage associated molecular patterns in IBD and the personalization of therapy through biomarkers and de-escalation strategies.
