Biography

Ray Reagans is the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Management at MIT Sloan School of Management and serves as the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. His research examines how demographic characteristics such as age, gender, and race influence the formation of interpersonal relationships and social networks. He investigates the impact of demographic diversity on teams’ social capital and subsequently on performance and learning capacity. Reagans also delves into how organizational climate and culture influence the retention and performance of women and racial minorities. He earned his BA in Sociology and Economics from Brown University and completed his PhD in Sociology at the University of Chicago. Reagans has received accolades for his teaching, including the 2022 Teaching with Digital Technology Award from MIT, recognizing his innovative use of digital tools in education. Additionally, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Management in 2022, honoring his significant contributions to management science and practice.
