Dr. Ray Zhang

Biography

Ray Zhang is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. He received his PhD from the University of British Columbia and is also a Finning Research Fellow. His research primarily focuses on topics such as securities regulation, bank loan contracting, and auditing. He has published numerous articles in reputable journals, contributing to understanding the implications of CFO characteristics on bank loan contracting and the effects of enforcement approaches on financial outcomes in the U.S. and China. His work has been recognized for its insights into the relationships between executive behaviors and financial regulatory environments. With a commitment to advancing the field of accounting, Zhang actively engages in interdisciplinary research that elevates the standards of corporate governance and enhances financial transparency.
