Biography

Fr. Raymond J. de Souza is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Economics Department at Queen's University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Economics and Political Studies from Queen's University, a Master of Public Administration, and a Master of Philosophy in Development Economics from the University of Cambridge. He also completed his seminary formation at St. Philip's Seminary in Toronto and at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, where he obtained his STB and STL degrees. Ordained a Catholic priest on July 20, 2002, he serves as the chaplain at Newman House and as the pastor of Sacred Heart Mary Parish in Wolfe Island. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is a Senior Fellow at Massey College at the University of Toronto and has been actively involved in advocacy and consultation for religious freedom, both in Canada and the United States. Fr. de Souza also writes regular columns for publications such as the National Post and co-founded Convivium, an online Canadian magazine focused on faith and common life.
