Biography

Raymundo Arróyave is a Professor and Associate Department Head in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as an M.S. in Materials Science Engineering and a B.S. in Mechanical Electrical Engineering. His research interests primarily lie in Computational Materials Science, focusing on methods such as computational thermodynamics and kinetics, integration of atomic-scale materials simulations, and the development of phenomenological thermodynamic kinetic models. He has made significant contributions to predicting the thermo-mechanical properties of materials using atomic-scale methods and developing phase field methods to describe time evolution in microstructures. Additionally, Arróyave is involved in physics-based materials design and materials data infrastructure, with applications in lead-free alloys, high-temperature materials, light metals, and more. His work has garnered recognition, including the FMD Journal Electronic Materials Paper Award in 2014 and a CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation in 2010. He has also been a Young Faculty Fellow at Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station and a member of the National System Researchers in Mexico from 2013 to 2018.
