Dr. Rayvon Fouché

Biography

Rayvon Fouché is a Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate Education at Northwestern University. His scholarship explores the intersections of cultural representation, racial identification, and technoscientific design. He holds joint appointments in the Department of Communication Studies and the Medill School of Journalism, Media, and Integrative Marketing Communications. Fouché has authored and edited several influential works including 'Black Inventors Age Segregation', 'Appropriating Technology: Vernacular Science and Social Power', 'Technology Studies', and the 4th Edition of 'Handbook of Science & Technology Studies'. He also wrote 'Game Changer: Technoscientific Revolution in Sports'. Fouché is the inaugural Arthur Mollela Distinguished Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution's Lemelson Center for Study of Invention and Innovation, and has received grants from esteemed organizations such as the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Science Foundation, which have supported his research and teaching efforts. His previous faculty appointments include positions at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Purdue University. He has also served as Division Director for the Social and Economic Sciences Directorate at the National Science Foundation.
