Biography

Razu Ahmed is a Postdoctoral Associate within the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary in the Department of Geomatics Engineering. He has a diverse academic background with a PhD in GIScience from the University of Calgary, an MA in Geography specializing in Geomatics from Brock University, a Master's degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from the University of Twente, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Geology from the University of Dhaka. His research interests are primarily focused on the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) fire dynamics, encompassing forest fire, natural hazards, and local warming phenomena observed through earth observing satellites. He employs advanced methodologies in remote sensing, GIS, and environmental modeling to tackle these pressing issues. Razu is also engaged in interdisciplinary approaches within GIScience, aimed at enhancing our understanding of environmental dynamics. He has actively contributed to academic discourse on topics such as wildfire prevention strategies, demonstrating a commitment to practical solutions to reduce the risks associated with wildfires.
