Biography

Rebecca Adler-Nissen is a Professor of International Relations in the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen, where she also serves as the Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Copenhagen Centre for Social Data Science (SODAS). Her research and teaching focus on various aspects of international relations theory, including sovereignty, stigma, status, recognition, and norms practice theory, alongside interests in diplomacy, digital technologies, and tech policy regulation related to European integration. She combines anthropological approaches with computational methods in her research. Adler-Nissen leads the research group Digital Sovereignty, funded by the VELUX Foundation, and previously directed the ERC-funded project DIPLOFACE. She has contributed significantly to the understanding of digital disinformation and has received various accolades, including the Distinguished Scholar Prize from the Diplomatic Studies Section of the International Studies Association and the Elite Research Award from the Danish Ministry of Education and Research. Her notable experience includes positions at the Centre for International Security Studies, University of Sydney, and at the Department of European Policy at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
