Biography

Rebecca Albrecht is a researcher in the fields of Cognitive Science and Gender Studies. Her work focuses on how flexible categorization shapes the way people perceive and navigate the social world. By combining methods from machine learning, cognitive psychology, and social psychology, she aims to understand the adaptive cognitive processes that lead to biases, stereotypes, and social polarization, particularly in digitally mediated environments. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology, with a specialization in Economic Psychology, at the University of Basel in 2020. Prior to that, she earned a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Freiburg. Albrecht has extensive research experience, including a Postdoctoral position at the University of Basel, along with roles as a research assistant at both the University of Basel and the University of Freiburg. In addition to her academic experience, she has worked as a Data Analyst and has internship experience as a Data Scientist.
