Biography

Dr. Rebecca Auer is a Full Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Ottawa and serves as the CEO and Scientific Director of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. She is also the Executive Vice-President of Research Innovation at the Ottawa Hospital and a Senior Scientist in the Cancer Therapeutics Program. Dr. Auer completed her Medical Doctorate at Queen's University in 2000, followed by residency training in General Surgery at the University of Ottawa in 2005, and Fellowship training in Surgical Oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 2007. Her primary research interests are centered around abdominal malignancies, particularly colorectal cancer and abdominal/retroperitoneal sarcomas. Additional areas of interest include surgical stress, metastases, coagulation, immunotherapy, oncolytic viruses, and microbiology.
