Biography

Rebecca Barnstaple is an Assistant Professor in the College of Arts at the University of Guelph. She holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts, a Master's Degree in Dance, as well as a Ph.D. in Dance Neuroscience from York University. Her research primarily investigates the biological dimensions and cultural impacts related to participation in the arts, especially dance. She co-directs the Research Practice Lab and Summer School at the ZOE School of Dance Movement Therapy in Basel. Her fellowship research projects have included mobile brain-body imaging studies focused on dance-based learning conducted at TU Berlin. Additionally, Barnstaple has contributed to various randomized controlled trials involving dance at Wake Forest University and has professional experience managing community initiatives at the Chigamik Community Health Centre.
