Professor Dr. Rebecca Burnett

Biography

Rebecca Burnett is a Professor Emerita at the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, specifically in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Institute of Technology. She has a strong academic background with a BA and M.Ed. in Curriculum Administration from the University of Massachusetts and a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University. Before her tenure at Georgia Tech, she was a professor in the Department of English, specializing in Rhetoric and Professional Communication at Iowa State University. Burnett's research interests lie at the intersection of professional and technical communication, and include themes such as collaboration, communication assessment, intercultural issues, and risk communication. Moreover, she explores contemporary topics within communication including gender, digital media, and technology's impact on society, particularly as it relates to creativity and policy. Her extensive teaching experience includes multiple courses focused on rhetorical techniques and digital communication strategies.
