Dr. Rebecca Dean

Biography

Rebecca Dean is a Lecturer in New Testament at the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford and serves as an Admissions Tutor for Cuddesdon-based pathways at Ripon College Cuddesdon. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Theology from the University of Birmingham and both master’s and doctoral degrees in New Testament Theology from the University of Oxford. Her doctoral research concentrated on the portrayal of religious experience through dream-visions in the Acts of the Apostles. Rebecca's research interests are rooted in Biblical Studies, particularly focusing on the New Testament. She delves into the religious experiences presented in the New Testament, investigating alternative realities and employing literary-critical interpretations to uncover the function of storytelling during this period. Additionally, she explores the construction of authority and identity within religious communities, aiming to contribute significantly to academic discourses in her field.
