Biography

Rebecca Delafield’s work primarily focuses on understanding and assessing health outcomes and health care experiences of Pasifika people. She is trained in community-based research approaches in maternal and child health. Her research examines socio-cultural, psychosocial, medical, and biological factors that influence health care quality and outcomes, with particular attention to pregnancy and the perinatal period. Dr. Delafield utilizes both quantitative and qualitative methods to identify factors that community members, community leaders, and academic researchers can address to advance the health and well-being of birthing people and their families. She is currently the Principal Investigator of a research study examining maternity care experiences of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders in the United States, using culturally adapted measures of patient-provider communication and relationships.
