Dr. Rebecca Duclos

Biography

Rebecca Duclos is a Professor of Art History at Concordia University, where she has been part of the academic community since 2010. With prior positions including Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Graduate Dean at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, her professional journey spans over a decade enriched by diverse experiences in both national and international contexts. She is recognized for her expertise in contemporary art, material culture, critical museology, and curatorial practice, focusing on the intersection of art and social issues. Duclos holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Manchester, UK, and an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. Her career has involved extensive collaboration with artists and institutions, fostering connections between academia and the arts community. Duclos has a strong commitment to humanitarian work, particularly in supporting arts education in Ukraine, amidst the challenging landscape prompted by conflict. With a history of innovative curatorial projects and publications reflecting a deep engagement with art and critical discourse, she continues to inspire students and peers alike while contemplating her future beyond academia. In her upcoming retirement, she plans to devote herself fully to humanitarian endeavors abroad, particularly in Europe and Ukraine.
