Biography

Rebecca (Becky) Jamieson is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Dalhousie University. She obtained her Ph.D. from Memorial University in 1979 and a B.Sc. from Dalhousie University in 1974. Her research interests include the formation and exhumation of ultra-high-pressure metamorphic rocks, particularly in the Western Gneiss Region of Norway. She works on thermal-mechanical models relevant to the Himalayan-Tibetan orogen and conducts detailed studies on the geology and metamorphism of the Grenville Orogen in central Ontario. Jamieson also focuses on contact metamorphism in the Halifax Group and employs chemical dating techniques using electron microprobe on monazite in various geological contexts. Her contributions to the field are supported by graduate and post-doctoral students, highlighting her commitment to advancing earth sciences through both research and mentorship.
