Rebecca Jordan joined the department in August 2018, focusing her research on understanding how individuals reason with scientific data. Specifically, she seeks to understand how individuals generate and test explanations for complex phenomena. Her work engages various audiences, including sixth to twelfth-grade students, undergraduate and graduate students, and the public involved in citizen science, to explore general research questions regarding causal reasoning and individual decision-making within environmental contexts. Rebecca holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a focus on Psychology, and she earned her Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Organismal Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During her time in Massachusetts, she completed postdoctoral fellowships at Princeton University in New Jersey and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before joining the department, she was a faculty member at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
