Biography

Rebecca King is an associate professor of psychiatry at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where she serves as the Interim Chair of the Discipline. Dr. King completed her MD training at Memorial University of Newfoundland and pursued her psychiatry residency at the University of Western Ontario. She also completed a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry and psycho-oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Dr. King is a fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and has an extensive academic practice background, having previously worked at the University of Western Ontario until 2019. Her focus includes collaborative care models for complex inter-related physical and mental health disorders, particularly for patients with acquired brain injuries. Since joining Memorial University in 2019, she has been actively involved in postgraduate education and mentoring younger colleagues. In 2020, Dr. King began working with the Office of Learner Well-Being & Success to develop peer support groups for residents, emphasizing the importance of mental health and well-being among medical trainees.
