Dr. Rebecca Martin

Biography

Rebecca H. Martin, OTD, is an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and serves as the Manager of Clinical Education Training at the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury (ICSCI). She joined the Kennedy Krieger Institute in 2005 as a senior occupational therapist, where she focuses on developing training programs and overseeing clinical research initiatives related to activity-based rehabilitation. Dr. Martin has a strong background in education, having taught numerous continuing education courses for rehabilitation professionals on topics such as neurological pathology and research methodologies. She is an expert in activity-based restorative therapy, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and the complexities of spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Throughout her career, she has been the principal investigator and co-investigator on several grants, contributing valuable insights into therapeutic practices and program development for individuals with spinal cord injuries. Dr. Martin has published multiple articles in reputable journals, highlighting her research efforts and comprehensive literature reviews on therapeutic electrical stimulation. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she has actively participated in professional activities, including serving as Committee Chair for the Annual Contemporary Trends in Spinal Cord Injury Management Symposium.
