Biography

Rebecca C. Ruehle joined Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam as an Assistant Professor on the Tenure Track in Business Ethics in 2020. Her research critically examines the use of nudges in the corporate sphere from an ethical perspective. She completed her PhD in 2020 at the University of Halle-Wittenberg with a focus on 'Ethics of Responsible Leadership in Business.' Before her tenure at Vrije Universiteit, she was a visiting scholar at Tilburg University and worked as a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Mannheim, as well as a research assistant at the University of Halle-Wittenberg, where she designed online courses on behavioral business ethics. Throughout her career, Rebecca has also held various roles at IBM, focusing on corporate citizenship across assignments in the USA and China. She has been active in student organizations promoting ethics in economics, having served as the director of a large student network in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Her teaching and research interests span Behavioral Business Ethics, Corporate Nudging, Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives, and the ethical implications of digital technology.
