Dr. Rebecca Shipley

Biography

Rebecca Shipley is a Professor in Healthcare Engineering at University College London (UCL), leading innovative research in the field of healthcare engineering with a focus on biomechanics and medical technologies. She is the Director of the UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering and has held various key positions, including Vice Dean for Health in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences. With a strong academic background, Shipley has held roles as a Reader in Biomechanics and a Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at UCL. Her research interests are aligned with sustainable development goals, particularly in promoting good health through engineering applications. Shipley has an extensive academic training background, having received her DPhil in Applied Mathematics from the University of Oxford, where she also completed her Master of Mathematics. She has contributed to numerous projects and has a collaborative approach, working cross-disciplinarily to enhance healthcare solutions. In addition to her academic duties, she serves as a Non-Executive Director at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, demonstrating her commitment to translating academic research into practical healthcare advancements.
