Dr. Rebecca Stone

Biography

Rebecca Stone is a Professor at UCLA School of Law, where her teaching and research interests focus on the intersections of law, economics, and legal philosophy. She obtained her B.A. in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Oxford, followed by an M.Phil. and D.Phil. in Economics from the same institution. She also holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law. Her research addresses a variety of topics including contracts, torts, and unjust enrichment, with a primary focus on questions of institutions, private law, and the conditions for ideal theory in the context of background injustice. A respected figure in her field, Professor Stone has clerked for Judge Richard Posner on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and for Justice Stephen Breyer on the U.S. Supreme Court. She has served as a visiting professor at NYU School of Law and Harvard Law School. Her notable publications include studies on contract law, consumer contracts, and private rights, reflecting her expertise in both theoretical and practical dimensions of law.
