Biography

Rebecca Tegtmeyer is an accomplished graphic design educator and practitioner who actively engages in research, writing, and teaching. Her work investigates the role of designers and the creative process across various aesthetics and cultural forms. By working both individually and collaboratively, she approaches design as a catalyst to facilitate systems that challenge and inspire others, further extending the responsibilities of designers in today’s complex society. Currently, she is involved in collaborative research projects focused on enhancing student experiences and reinforcing the values of design education. Her solo work critically examines sewing practices and explores the intersection of design with consumerism and patriarchal systems in production. Recognition of her research spans both national and international platforms, and she has contributed to significant publications in the field. Rebecca's teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels in areas such as interaction design, motion design, and branding. As a member of various design associations, she is also involved in initiatives aimed at establishing inclusive and fair teaching practices in design education, particularly in the wake of recent global events that have shaped the educational landscape.
