Biography

Rebecca Thornhill completed her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics at the University of Western Ontario, focusing her work on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Following her doctoral studies, she pursued postdoctoral research fellowships at McMaster University and the University of Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. In 2010, Thornhill became an Imaging Scientist in the Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital, where she developed special interests in cardiac MRI, radiomics, and artificial intelligence in medical imaging. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa and also serves as an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University. Her research interests include medical imaging, particularly magnetic resonance imaging spectroscopy related to cardiovascular metabolic disorders, radiomics, machine learning applications in medical imaging, neuroimaging, and oncological as well as cardiovascular applications.
