Biography

Reem Bahdi is an Associate Professor and the Dean of Windsor Law, appointed to the position on July 1, 2021. She joined the faculty in 2002 and has dedicated her teaching and research to issues related to access to justice in Canada and Palestine. Dean Bahdi co-created and co-directed KARAMAH, a multi-million dollar initiative focused on supporting human dignity in Palestine, which includes research and continuing judicial education aimed at engaging civil society. She has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Windsor Yearbook of Access to Justice and as Associate Dean from 2012 to 2015. Her leadership and contributions have been recognized by various organizations, including the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, which awarded her the Hala Salam Maksoud Award, and the Canada Arab Business Council, which honored her with the Outstanding Arab Canadian Achievement Award at their annual gala dinner on April 29, 2023. She is also the recipient of the 2017 Guthrie Medal for her contributions to research, teaching, and advocacy in advancing access to justice in Ontario. In 2015, she was appointed as a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists, highlighting her national research excellence. The Student Law Society at Windsor Law has acknowledged her exemplary teaching and dedication with several distinguished teaching awards, and she is recognized as a leading scholar in Palestinian law within Canada.
