Biography

Regina Chen is a Design Critic in Urban Planning at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, with a multidisciplinary background that includes architecture, engineering, and planning. She has led the development of MASS Design Group's signature design processes and tools, enhancing community engagement and decision-making through trauma-informed restorative justice approaches. As a Senior Principal and Managing Director at MASS Design, Regina spearheads the Process Learning team, advancing a culture of mutual learning and accountability. Her work, characterized by a strong emphasis on community engagement, includes significant projects such as the Gun Violence Memorial Project and the Restorative Justice Design Lab, where she fosters environments for truth-telling and collective healing. Regina has also launched MASS’s Narrative team, overseeing exhibitions and publications that creatively respond to social issues. She studied Civil Engineering and Architecture at Princeton University and earned a Master in Urban Planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
