Biography

Regina Karousou-Fokas is a Senior Teaching Fellow specializing in Greek Studies at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge. She holds a BA in English Modern Greek Language and Literature from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Essex. Her doctoral thesis at the University of Reading explored psycholinguistics and bilingual speech production. Regina coordinates and teaches Modern Greek language linguistics, supervises undergraduate students, and examines Greek language papers. With teaching experience that spans over a wide range, she has been involved in GCSE and A-level teaching, further education, as well as language teaching for young learners since 2004. Additionally, she serves as an External Examiner for Greek at King's College London. Regina is passionate about bilingualism, language teaching, and learning, and is dedicated to promoting the study of languages and cultures. She has been actively involved in community projects and events, notably contributing to the ‘The World Cambridge’ event organized by the University’s Equality & Diversity Office and regularly participates in the Festival of Ideas.
