Biography

The Reid Research Group at Cornell University is centered on understanding and innovating the use of nature-based technologies as sustainable tools for ensuring the quality of water resources and ecosystem health. The lab specializes in environmental biogeochemistry and ecosystem engineering, focusing particularly on water quality issues. Utilizing a combination of analytical environmental chemistry, molecular microbiology, and mathematical modeling, the group characterizes the coupled chemical, biological, and physical processes that control the transport and transformation of contaminants in the environment. Research systems studied include both natural and constructed wetlands, integrated agroecosystems, stormwater infrastructure, and agricultural rice paddy soils. Their work addresses questions across multiple scales and varying levels of complexity, utilizing pure culture and field measurements to carry out their projects.
