Biography

Reinoud Gosens is a Professor of Translational Pharmacology at the University of Groningen, specializing in the respiratory system. He obtained his PhD in pharmacology in 2004 from the University of Groningen and completed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 2007. His research primarily focuses on the mechanisms that regulate tissue repair and remodeling in asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Gosens is particularly interested in the therapeutic potential of neuronal signaling and Wnt/Frizzled receptor signaling as novel drug targets for tissue repair and remodeling. In addition to his academic role, he has been actively involved in various initiatives, serving as a co-founder and shareholder of Aquilo BV, member of Stichting Aquilo, co-founder and shareholder of Mimecure BV, and chair of the scientific advisory panel for the Longfonds. He is also a board member of the Noordelijke Cara Stichting and the vice-president of the Netherlands Respiratory Society.
