Reinout van der Veer is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Radboud University. His research focuses on the functioning and legitimacy of international organizations. His work covers a variety of themes including the politicization and responsiveness of the European Union and United Nations, the role of expertise in decision-making, and public opinion regarding international organizations. Currently, he is involved in an NWO Veni project that examines how centers of experts and policy elites operate within international organizations to facilitate transnational governance that is responsible and responsive. Reinout teaches and coordinates courses in the specialization of European Union Politics and Governance in the Master's program in Political Science. He obtained his PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam, where his dissertation, written in Dutch, won the Van Poelje Prize in 2020. Before joining Nijmegen, he worked as a senior researcher at the Netherlands Court of Audit in The Hague and held a position as a visiting researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center.
