Dr. Reitan Ribeiro

Biography

Reitan Ribeiro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University and an attending Gynecologic Oncologist at the Cedars Cancer Center. He is also a Surgical Oncologist affiliated with the McGill University Health Center. Dr. Ribeiro is recognized for his pioneering work in laparoscopic robotic surgery, particularly the development of the uterine transposition technique, which allows for fertility preservation in patients undergoing pelvic radiation therapy. His contributions to gynecologic oncology have earned him both national and international acclaim, including teaching engagements at prestigious institutions such as the Houston Methodist Hospital in the USA. He has led landmark clinical trials, and his research focuses on surgical innovation, fertility preservation, and treatment strategies that improve patient outcomes in gynecologic cancers. Active in professional organizations, Dr. Ribeiro is a member of the International Gynecological Cancer Society and the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology, and he has received several prestigious awards for his work, including an Honorable Mention from the Chamber of Deputies of Paraná, Brazil, the National Medical Treatment Innovation Award (VEJA), and a video award from the American Society of Gynecologic Oncology.
