Biography

Réjean Poirier was a prominent organist and harpsichordist with over thirty years of concert experience, making significant contributions to the early music scene. His expertise in continuo and deep musical knowledge earned him recognition on international stages. Throughout his career, he explored various repertoires of choral, orchestral, and solo music, actively promoting the revival of Baroque music in Canada through numerous publications. After completing his music studies at the conservatories in Montreal and Toulouse, he won the first prize at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Bruges. In 1974, he co-founded the Studio of Early Music in Montreal and served as its artistic codirector for 15 years. A dedicated educator, he taught at the Faculty of Music at the University of Montreal for thirty years and served as the Dean from 1998 to 2007, significantly influencing the faculty's growth during his tenure.
