Biography

Rekha Rajesh has decades of clinical experience across multiple care settings, cultivating a deep understanding of patient-centered dental care. Her professional journey began as a general dentist in Tamil Nadu, India, where she managed a private practice providing comprehensive restorative and preventive dental services. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Rajesh transitioned to dental hygiene, working in private practice and building strong rapport to support treatment adherence for promoting long-term oral health. Simultaneously, she worked in a Geriatric Mobile Dental practice, providing care to elderly individuals in long-term care settings with a focus on preventive oral health services. This role involved adapting care techniques for patients with dementia and physical limitations while collaborating with caregivers to ensure accessible dental services for vulnerable populations. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Rajesh serves in an academic capacity as a faculty member in the Dental Hygiene Division of the Department of Periodontics at UT Health San Antonio, where she is actively involved in didactic and clinical instruction, mentoring dental hygiene students, and contributing to curriculum development. As a Senior Clinic Coordinator, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the dental hygiene clinic, ensuring smooth coordination among students, faculty, and support staff, thereby deepening her understanding of dental education and clinical operations.
