Remco de Bree studied medicine in Utrecht, Netherlands. His PhD research at the VU University Medical Center focused on the clinical application of radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies in head and neck cancer patients. After completing his training in otolaryngology in 1999, he worked for two years as a fellow in head and neck surgery. Over 14 years, he served as a head and neck surgeon before becoming a full professor in clinical oncological research in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery in 2006. In 2015, he was appointed as the head of the Department of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the UMC Utrecht Cancer Center. His special interests include clinical applications and improvements in diagnostic imaging techniques, the sentinel node procedure, and the quality of life related to reconstructive surgery for head and neck cancer.
